By Spike Gillespie, 2007, ISBN: 978-0-292-70599-9 (Library Call No. 746.46)
In the beginning of the book, Spike tries her hand at quilting. As a result, it leads her down the path towards some very interesting conversations with quilters who have made their stitches known in quilt world. Interspersed throughout the pages are touching stories of how quilting impacted the lives of regular people. She attends the Houston International Quilt Festival, talks to some of the winners...including Arlene Blackburn with the truth behind the rumors of the destruction of her quilt, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Elvis" in 2002. (That's worth the price of admission right there.) I also enjoyed her interviews with Bob Ruggerio and Karey Bresenhan. A good read, especially if you love the details on how and what inspires these artists.
