I must add that if you are using older CrockPot cookbooks and recipes with a new CrockPot, watch your time.
I think food safety issues have raised the temperature of the settings on the newer Rival Crockpots. I've discussed this with other "Crackpot" (sic) friends and they agree --
If you put something on Low and expect it to cook all day without burning or getting funky around the edges or stirring every so often, you'll be surprised! I went through 2 Crockpots thinking there was something wrong with the settings. Low will now actually start to bubble/boil within 2 hours.
No longer do I believe the instructions to cook on Low 6-8 hours. It's more like 3-4 hours now.
