Debuting in the new Summer Vogue Patterns catalog -- Dress/Tunic
1101, Top

1110 Once again, I wish I could see Sandra's real-life versions, with
her fabric selections and variations. The line drawings show potential. What do you think? I think I'll wait for the next $3.99 pattern sale.
I also bought the top and the jacket. I just finished making the jacket out of muslin as a test fit. It is a disaster! The jacket body is OK but the sleeve is terrible. It is the smallest armseye that I have ever seen. In fact, I called the technical dept. at Vogue to see if it was in error. They told me that Sandra has her own pattern drafter. Vogue does not draft the patterns. I have a very thin arm (it is 9 inches in diameter) and the jacket sleeve is so small that it is very uncomfortable. I am going to look for another princess type jacket and take the design details of the pocket, back flap, and sleeve trim and transfer them to the new jacket. Maybe you will have better luck than I did. I strongly suggest you make up in muslin before committing to your fashion fabric. By the way, I have two other Sandra patterns in my stash that I just never made up and both of these other patterns have the sleeve drafted in the exact same style.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get this message before you've tried making up this pattern.
